Linda Arbuckle - Visiting Artist in Ceramics Linda Arbuckle’s work in majolica-glazed earthenware has been recognized through an Artist’s Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a Florida Individual Artist’s Fellowship. Artists in Residence positions in Wales and the People’s Republic of China have provided further balance of Eastern and Western resources in her works. Linda Arbuckle gave a lecture and did a 2-day workshop in the Ceramics lab during the fall semester. Dick Lehman - Visiting Artist in Ceramics Dick Lehman is a full-time studio potter, working in Goshen, Indiana, and a frequent contributor to Ceramics Monthly Magazine. Visit: www.DickLehman.com. Dick Lehman gave a lecture and workshop detailing his wood firing technique. While sharing with students the beauty and elegance of his ceramic pieces, Dick Lehman also related the insights gained from his extensive travels. Most surprisingly students were the recipients of a unique privilege when Dick Lehman shared his business philosophy and many of the specifics of his business records. Senior year you continue to develop your voice and vision, exploring a wide array of artistic interpretation, technique and experimentation, while preparing for a solo senior thesis exhibition. Incorporated into the creative opportunities is the practical instruction in the business of being a studio artist. CCAD Fine Arts graduates may find careers as practicing artists or seek further study. Recent graduates have gone on to continue their education at prestigious institutions such as Cornell University, Yale, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston University, and Cranbrook. SCULPTUREKurt Steger - Visiting Artist in Sculpture Kurt Steger is a well-known sculptor in Northern California. He has work in numerous collections and has just completed a major installation in the new Sacramento City Hall. His talk detailed the process involved in public art from the initial grant proposal to the finished product. It is an educational and often entertaining journey through the initial presentation, selection processes, red tape, and construction roadblocks.
PRINTMAKINGMelissa Meyer - Visiting Artist in Printmaking Melissa Meyer received her BS and MA from New York University. Her work can be found in the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Jewish Museum, NYC. Her shows have been reviewed in major periodicals and aspects of her watercolors have been compared to the work of Paul Klee, Helen Frankenthaler, and Hans Hoffman. The Columbus Museum of Art recently acquired and exhibited a piece of Melissa Meyer's artwork. GLASSWalter Lieberman: An Artist’s View of the Studio Glass Movement Renowned studio and teaching artist, Walter Lieberman, presents a lecture from his popular 10-part series on the history of glass given at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington. Designed for the general public, the lecture focus is on the Studio Glass Movement that spans from the early 1960s to today and has produced such luminaries as Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Dick Weiss and others.
