Scholarships and deadlines to apply

Scholarships awarded

CCAD Portfolio Competition Scholarship

  • Awarded annually.
  • Open to all high school seniors around the world.
  • Scholarships range in value from $10,000 to $44,000 (applied toward the cost of tuition). Three full-tuition scholarships are awarded.
  • Deadline to submit portfolios: March 1, 2007
  • Portfolios may contain original artwork, slides, or digital photographs on disk.
  • Portfolios should include between 10 and 15 pieces of an applicant’s best work. Projects that emphasize drawing skills are highly encouraged.
  • Please do not send three-dimensional work or framed pieces; submit in slide or digital photograph form (see Portfolio section for more information).
  • Before entering the competition, applicants must submit a completed CCAD application, a copy of their high school transcript and a letter of recommendation (from an art instructor or guidance counselor).
  • Portfolios may be mailed to CCAD (allow time for delivery) or dropped off in person to the Admissions Office.
  • Competition results will be mailed to participants. At that time, applicants may pick up their portfolios. CCAD will mail portfolios (postage due) to those applicants who have notified us to do so.
  • Scholarship acceptance cards must be returned by May 11, 2007.

Scholastic Art Awards

Since 1927, Scholastic Inc. has conducted the Scholastic Art Awards to encourage and recognize student achievement in the visual arts. CCAD offers five, two-year, full-tuition scholarships to those students who have been designated portfolio winners on the national level.

  • See your high school art instructor or guidance counselor to find out if your high school participates in the Scholastic Art Awards.
  • Students enter regional competitions across the country, with finalists selected for entry into the national competition in New York City.
  • Following notification from the national committee in New York, CCAD will contact those students with scholarship information.
  • Scholarship acceptance cards must be returned before May 11, 2007.

Battelle Scholars Program

The Battelle Scholars Program awards scholarships to central Ohio high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic skills. CCAD awards one $28,000 tuition scholarship divided over four years.

  • Students must be residents of the following central Ohio counties: Franklin, Pickaway, Licking, Madison, Union, Delaware, or Fairfield.
  • Students must submit the Battelle application, essay, transcript of grades, and letters of recommendation to CCAD before February 2, 2007.
  • Finalists will be invited to an interview and portfolio review session at CCAD.
  • The candidate selected for the scholarship will need to formally accept the scholarship before April 15, 2007.

Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition

Open to Ohio high school art students, this program is conducted on a regional level with selected works going to the state competition. CCAD offers $2,000 tuition scholarship as a result of the juried exhibition in Columbus.

  • These scholarship awards are in addition to any other scholarship a student may have received to attend CCAD.
  • For entry information, contact your high school art instructor or guidance counselor.
  • Deadline to return Scholarship acceptance cards is May 11, 2007.

Arts Recognition and Talent Search Scholarship

  • This competition is administered through the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts.
  • CCAD awards two-year, full-tuition scholarships to high school seniors acknowledged on the national level.
  • Contact your high school art instructor or guidance counselor to find out if your high school participates in this program and for entry information.

National Art Honor Society

CCAD offers $4,000 scholarships to qualifying students to be applied toward the cost of tuition.

  • Contact your high school art instructor or guidance counselor for information about this program, which is conducted by the National Art Education Association.
  • This award is in addition to any other scholarship the student may have received; the awards will be added together and divided evenly over the same number of terms of the larger award.
  • Please forward a copy of your National Art Honor Society certificate to the Admissions Office.

Veterans benefits

CCAD is approved by the State Approving Agency and the Veterans Administration for educational benefits.

  • Individuals qualifying for veterans’ benefits are required to submit, at the time of or prior to registration, a certificate of eligibility or letter of authorization from the Veterans Administration.
  • Applicants should first be accepted to the school before applying for benefits at the Veterans Administration office.
