Saturday Morning Art Classes:Course Summary: Grades Sixth through NinthAll classes meet for 10-weeks; students sign up in one class per term. Please contact 614.222.3248 with questions. Sixth gradeDesign Design concentrates on the two-dimensional elements of art such as the use of color and line, while teaching the processes used by both fine and graphic artists. Digital Design Digital design concentrates on the elements of electronic art while teaching the processes used by successful graphic artists. Students will use CCAD’s extensive Macintosh computer imaging facilities to produce successful and creative digital art. Drawing into Color Drawing encourages the student to continue to develop observational skills, while using line, shading, and proportions. Color theory and proper usage are explored in the color portion of the class.
Seventh gradeArt & Technology Emphasizing computers, creativity, and personal vision, this course will change the way students think about computers, art, and photography. Using CCAD's extensive Macintosh computer imaging facilities, students will use digital cameras and Photoshop to create their own art. Drawing into Color Drawing encourages the student to continue to develop observational skills, while using line, shading, and proportions. Color theory and proper usage are explored in the color portion of the class. The Illustrated Comic Students will practice drawing skills and illustration techniques while developing narrative art, and learn the basic tools and media used by illustrators. The process of creating an illustration from concept to finished piece will be emphasized.
Eighth gradeDrawing Using a variety of media, such as graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils, students will gain an understanding of perspective, proportions of the human figure, relationships between objects, and measured drawing in this course. Illustration Students will learn the basic tools and media used by illustrators. The process of creating an illustration from concept to finished piece will be emphasized. Traditional Animation Key concepts of traditional drawing animation will be introduced including character design, timing, and movement. At the conclusion of the course, students will have a finished animated piece.
Ninth grade3D Illustration Students will learn the basic techniques of modeling to create three-dimensional narrative artwork. Ceramics In this hands-on course, students will learn basic skills for throwing, building, and glazing. Through the study of the work of other artists students will gain an understanding of successful ceramic artwork in three-dimensions. Drawing Students will learn accurate perspective, proportions of the human figure, measured drawing, the dynamics of relationships between objects, and landscapes. A variety of media will be introduced and used.
